It has been about 3 months since I wrote a blog about starting my work at WOVOX. Now, with only a few days left, it is time to look back at what I’ve learned.
A thing called trust
One of the most remarkable things I got to find out from the very start, is that the people here were very open to my arrival. All my fellow team-members had faith in my capabilities and weren’t afraid to grant me some responsibility. I had plenty of time to adapt to the working environment, but once I figured out the basics, it was time to prove myself. I have heard of different experiences regarding internships. Some companies may throw you in the deep, while others hold you back as you’re only allowed to watch others swim. In my case at WOVOX, I didn’t get pushed or held back. I was completely free to make decisions of my own. Sometimes I jumped in the water, sometimes I stood back. It’s a good feeling to be able to make decisions of your own. It only motivated me to be productive and find out what I’m capable of.
The future is a lie
Working here, I have learned how important it is for people to enjoy their work. I believe everyone has something they can be passionate about, even if they don’t know it yet. I don’t believe it is in our nature to always laze around. As much as I love to sit back and relax, I have a need to be productive as well. And it’s a great thing to be able to make a living doing what you truly like. More and more I am seeing how important it is to live in the present. A lot of us grow up working hard, so we can have a better future. Once we are grown up, there comes a time we need to realize that the future we worked for is now. Being stuck in the mentality of always living towards ‘later’ will get us nowhere. Good things can happen. I think it’s important to let them happen as soon as possible.
The end
Although it is time to head back to school and say goodbye to this amazing team. This doesn’t feel like much of an ending to me. I’ll keep in touch with WOVOX, because I believe in their message and want to support them. On the other hand, my experience here has motivated me to continue. To keep doing what I love and finding ways to be successful in it.
