This is one of our most awesome office visits so far. 9Apps, a company that specializes in cloud engineering, works in the back of Cave Rokin, an Amsterdam wine store. Not because they have to, but because they want to. (And no, it’s not for the booze that they’re staying.)

9Apps produces tools for software engineers, such as web services and books. We went to see them to talk about taking photos of their workplace, no idea of the kind of crib we were about to set foot in.

The company originally held office in the neighbouring town of Haarlem but wanted to be closer to their clients, some of whom are in Amsterdam. So when founder Jurg met
Cave Rokin‘s owner Maarten through their daughters, both in the same class at school, one thing quickly led to another.

9Apps now proudly works in the back, while customers peacefully make their purchases in the main store. The team, its clients and relations all love the vibe so much, that Jurg’s not making any plans to expand. Because more people would mean searching for a bigger workplace. And that’s one step he’s not willing to take yet. Cave Rokin feels too much like home and too much like family.
